About the Future Equine Practitioners Weekend
Limited to just 37 vet students from across the US and Canada
Open to all vet students who are interested in a career in equine veterinary medicine
If you’re interested in a career in equine veterinary medicine this is your chance to get hands on experience and guidance from current equine vets and experts. You’ll also make excellent connections that can help you navigate your time in vet school.
Hands on opportunities
The Future Equine Practitioners Weekend (FEPW) is filled with hands on labs that give you unique learning experiences guided by current equine vets.
Curated meetings with experts and advisors
You’ll have the chance to meet one-on-one with a curated collection of equine veterinary practices, cutting edge vendors, and expert advisors. Our limited attendance lets you spend time asking questions and building deeper relationships with future employers and business partners.
We haven’t forgotten about fun!
The organizers of FEPW understand better than most that vet school is hard. We want to give you a full view of equine practice and part of that is having fun with a close knit group of excellent individuals!
Did we mention? It’s free to attend.
Thanks to the support of our sponsors we’re able to cover the cost of registration, hotel, food, weekend transportation, learning materials, and more.
Becoming a vet is a calling. It’s a lot of hard work, late nights, and worrying about finances.
To reduce that worry the only thing we don’t cover is the cost of getting to the event. For help with that expense talk to your school’s equine club or AAEP representative to learn more about what funding is available.
If you’re a planner (we know most vet students are) the first day of the event takes place at 26 Losee Ln, Rhinebeck, NY 12572 so you can get a head start on planning your road trip/flights. As the event gets closer we will release information about accommodations and a detailed schedule of events.
How it works
Attendance Details
Here’s how we select students to attend the FEPW:
Step 1: We reach out to each vet school to let them know how many of their students are able to attend the 2024 FEPW.
Step 2: The AAEP student representative for each school sends us a final list of students who have been selected to attend from their school.
Step 3: We work directly with the list of selected students to send them details about the event.

By sponsoring a student you’ll be helping educate the next generation of equine veterinarians.
The name of the individual or business (and a logo if requested) will be featured throughout the weekend, and we’ll also be highlighting those supporters on our website and across our social channels.
